Hi, Reader,

Here’s a truth when it comes to any big goal, be it writing a book or another big effort: maintaining momentum is key to your success.

Think of it like this: you know those days when you’re go-go-go, from a busy workday to the grocery store to cooking dinner to cleaning up and taking care of tasks, and you know—you just know—that if you sit down, it’s all over? You might rot on that couch cushion from now until infinity.

Most of the authors I work with have started and stopped their books at least once but often many, many times. They get a lot of energy and momentum, and then they sit on the metaphorical couch.

The goal, instead, is to not get into a go-go-go mentality. Build momentum and keep a pace you can maintain. And then, for the love of books, don’t stop.

When I’m coaching authors, I do everything I can to help them keep momentum, even if the momentum needs to temporarily slow. Momentum is queen in your author journey. And if you want to finally finish your book in 2025, or accomplish another big goal, accountability is part of helping you maintain momentum. This is where accountability is key.

Ghostwriter Stacy Ennis agrees that focusing on potential clients is key.

“Writing a book is a vulnerable endeavor, and I do my best to meet potential clients where they are and build trust through the content on the site, including through success stories and testimonials,” she explains.

“I also try to make it clear and easy for them to find the information they want and need, as well as provide value via my blog and podcast.”

Writing quote

I learned never to empty the well of my writing, but always to stop when there was still something there in the deep part of the well, and let it refill at night from the springs that fed it.
